The following list provides brief descriptions of sections in this site to help you become familiar with the contents and to help you navigate successfully.

Search:
We have provided 3 methods to perform a search:

1. A simple search using all or part of a keyword, author or text.
2. An advanced search using any of the filters provided (such as Topics, Outcomes, or Types of Evidence) to narrow, expand, or exclude results.
3. An scoping search which allows an exploration of the distribution of each of the variables in the database. The results of a scoping search can inform users of the database about what research is currently available, or conversely, what research might need to be undertaken.

  Omit the initial article - a, an, the: The British Journal of Social Work
  Enter as much of the title as you know: Social Work in Health Care
• Article Title, exact
  Omit the initial article - a, an, the: A Model Intervention for Elder Abuse
  Enter as much of the title as you know: A Model Intervention for Elder Abuse
• Keyword search
  A keyword search will search the database in the "open" review fields of Author abstract, Evaluator abstract, Research questions, Hypothesis, Findings, Conclusions and Study limitations. The advanced search will search in the review fields that are listed, such as Topics, Individual Outcomes, Program Outcomes, Community Service Settings and/or Demographics.
  
  Multiple words in a search field should be joined by "AND" unless the user types in Boolean operator to separate the words. Boolean operator precedence is AND, NOT, OR. In an advanced search the boolean operator precedence is the same and it searches using the EXACT search phrase from the review text boxes.
  
  Using keywords with:
  AND: to connect different concepts. Elderly AND Medicare. This narrows the search.
  OR: to connect similar concepts. Therapy OR Treatment. This broadens the search.
  NOT: to exclude terms form a search. Therapy NOT Surgery. This excludes terms.
  
  Put quotes around phrases: "medicare reform"
  Use ? to truncate on either side of the word: embryo? retrieves embryo, embryos, embryological, etc.
• Author (last name, first name)
  Enter author's last name, first name. A comma between names is not required, enter as much as you know.
  -brown alan retrieves brown alan, brown alan geoffrey etc.
  -brown retrieves brown a.c., brown a.g. etc.

Topics:
This section of the website displays topics that are currently included in the database.

Glossary:
This section contains a searchable glossary of the definitions for all of the key terms used on the site, including those terms found on the review forms.

About Us:
This section lists the contributors, consultants, and reviewers for the construction and maintenance of this database.

Comments/suggestions:
This section can be used to address questions or make comments regarding the material or functioning of the website.
